Beast Belly Beginnings

Beast Belly Studios is made up of 18 Graduate Students in the Entertainment Arts & Engineering Program at the University of Utah. We're developing our game, Slime Knight, as our Thesis Project that will last our entire final year in the program.

 

We started this project in August of 2022 with the goal of finding a fun mechanic to center our thesis game around. After a couple weeks of working on 3 separate prototypes, we settled on one main and one supporting mechanic based off of the playtesting done during our prototyping phase. At this point, we decided that it would be best to start our build from scratch using Unreal 5. We knew that the game would be fun and the mechanic could be made. The goal now was to start with a foundation that was solid and expansive. That way, we could get a very polished, enjoyable experience that we could build on and adapt as we wanted to and got feedback.
